MITHI, Dec 9: A couple of Kotri who drew the ire of their relatives by tying the knot in a court against their wishes appealed to authorities concerned here on Sunday to protect them from their anger as they intended to kill them.

Addressing a news conference at the press club here, Ms Shazia alias Shahar Banu Khaskheli and her husband Ali Ghullam Khaskheli said that they had married in the court in Jamshoro on Feb 10 this year despite opposition by relatives.

Angered, the girl’s relatives Allah Jurio, Niaz, Inayatullah, Amanullah and others lodged cases against Shafi Mohammad, Abdul Hakim and Mohammad Hanif, brothers of the girl’s husband on charges of theft and involvement in narcotics trade. Police arrested them and subjected them to severe torture to extract information about their whereabouts and threatened them of dire consequences, they said.
